Recycling plastics is a bit like solving a complex puzzle. There are lots of moving parts, all designed for an economy based on extracted natural resources. If it's not economically viable, it isn't done.
Plastics come in different types and blends that need to be sorted properly. Some plastics
have additives or special features, like colours, labels, product residue or reinforcements, which make them challenging.
You have to figure out the right way to handle it. And that is not happening fast enough'
While recycling technology keeps improving, it's not perfect, still maintains conventional freight needs and never guarantees a buyer downstream will handle the products responsibly.
